You'll see:
- Build log is green but the site is blank, lists files, or 404s at /
- Error: “No output directory named 'build' found” / “publish directory does not exist”
Why it happens
The host built your project but served the wrong folder. Vite outputs dist/, Create React App outputs build/, Next.js static export outputs out/. A wrong setting serves your raw source (blank page) or nothing.
How to fix it
-
Check what your build actually produces
npm run build ls # look for dist/, build/ or out/ -
Set the matching values
Vite (Lovable, Bolt): build command npm run build, output dist. Netlify's publish directory is relative to the base directory — leave base empty unless the app is in a subfolder. Cloudflare's React (Vite) preset uses npm run build / dist.
-
Framework apps: let the host detect it
For Next.js and TanStack Start on Vercel, leave Output Directory empty so the framework adapter handles it.
-
Redeploy and clear cache
